How do I check my oil?
There`s no dipstick!

As of 2005, Porsche has replaced the tangible dipstick found in the engine bay with an electronic measuring system that can be operated from inside the cockpit. There is no longer any need for the driver to get their hands dirty.

To check the oil level of your 2005 and newer Porsche sports car, please follow these simple instructions:

Note: Vehicle must be running and engine must be warm in order to check oil level.

1. Find the lever marked “Function” directly below the turn signal indicator on the left-hand side of the steering wheel.

2. Push the “Function” lever towards the dash. A digital menu will appear in the Center Display Screen found in the tachometer (RPM) gauge.

3. Move the “Function” lever up or down (towards the roof or floor) until “OIL” is highlighted on the screen. Now push the “Function” towards the dashboard to select.

4. At this stage, the onboard computer will begin to measure the oil level of your Porsche engine. This may take a few minutes depending on its operating temperature.

5. Once completed, the Center Display screen will show you a gauge of your oil level (The bars should reach the top arrow of the display screen if oil is at the correct amount).

6. If the bars do not reach this top arrow, please add oil to you engine. Each bar represents approximately ¼ litre or 200ml of oil.

IMPORTANT: Make sure that only 0W40 Mobil 1 synthetic motor oil is used on all Porsche’s 2005 and newer.

NOTE: If the display tells you the engine must warm up, let the engine run until correct temperature is reached. Never leave your Porsche running unattended.
